Browse folders, read Markdown, and edit notes in an agent that supports MCP Apps. The same memory is also available in the web memory desk.

Open the interactive browser

  1. Connect your client and finish browser authorization.
  2. Ask: “Open the MarkdownMem memory browser.” The agent calls memory_browse.
  3. In a supported host, the interactive view appears inside the conversation. Browse notes, edit Markdown, create a note, or append text. Destructive changes have a confirmation step.

Which clients can show it?

MCP Apps is an extension beyond ordinary MCP tools. The ecosystem includes interactive app experiences in Claude, ChatGPT, and VS Code, but availability depends on the particular client, account, connection path, and supported app format. Consult the official MCP Apps support list and your client's current guide.

Supporting MCP alone does not guarantee that a host will render this view. Text-only clients can still use the memory tools; open the web memory desk whenever you want a visual editor.

Is it the same as the web app?

It reads and edits the same store. The embedded view focuses on notes; workspace invitations, connection management, downloads, and retained version history live in the web memory desk.

Can the embedded view bypass permissions?

No. Every action checks the signed-in account or connection key against the requested store and operation. A read-only connection cannot save or delete notes. The view's state is bound to its authorized identity and store; changing a browser control does not grant access to another one.

The app opens with an empty view and loads note data through authenticated tools. It does not embed your notes or credentials in the shared renderer. As with any connected agent, content you authorize the client to read is subject to that client's data handling policy.

If the view is missing or stops working

Update your client, confirm MCP Apps is enabled, and reconnect or refresh its tool list after a server update. If access changes or the connection expires, authorize again. A write conflict means another editor changed the note; read the latest version and reconcile your draft.
